Jordan Collins graduates from the Honors College at the College of Charleston in May 2017. She will earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science in the Department of Health and Human Performance. Jordan was recognized by the College for her academic excellence and significant leadership during her undergraduate career, receiving the Bishop Robert Smith Award and the John Lewis Gervais, Jr. Award.
During high school, Jordan successfully completed the AP Art Program, earning the highest possible score on the AP Art Exam. Recognized and awarded both locally and nationally for her artistic talents, Jordan was rated as "Best of Show" for her piece, Rendering the Veil.
Jordan has recently been accepted at the Medical University of South Carolina, and will join the Class of 2019 in the Occupational Therapy Masters Program. Her main goal as an occupational therapist is to serve the disabled community as well as populations that are underprivileged and underrepresented through pediatric occupational therapy, emphasizing how recreation and art therapy can improve daily functioning and overall wellness.
Jordan dreams of owning a studio that will one day also house her therapy practice. This facility will not only display her artwork, but also the creations of her clients and students. She hopes that through therapy sessions; art classes, shows, and exhibitions; and recreational festivals, her patients will come to recognize, accept, and reach their full potential.
Until then, Jordan will continue to develop her artistic talents, by trying new and different art styles and mediums, as well as breadths and concentrations. She seeks and appreciates the support and feedback from her audience, as these greatly contribute to her ability to grow as an artist and professional. Special thanks to all those who have made these opportunities available and possible!
